Chef Josh Jackson

Josh Jackson's love of cooking spans decades. What began as a way to get out of doing the dishes at home as a boy turned into a lifelong passion. His professional career in the kitchen officially began at the age of 16 and since that first job in the food court at the brand new Santa Monica Mall, he has worked in numerous restaurants with chefs such as Bruce Marter of Capo and Michael Richard of Citrus.

Josh developed his skill in kitchens all over Los Angeles, culminating as Executive Chef at Pentola Taverna and then owning and operating Meditrina Cafe on Abbot Kinney with Mary Vernieu (Primitivo Wine Bistro). He has been featured in the Zagat guide, Los Angeles Times, TV Guide, Food Network, Buzzfeed, Hollywood Reporter, and Parade. His dinner parties and other private events generated word of mouth and his clients grew steadily, as did his crew.

Great Taste Catering and the Pivot to Home Delivery

Great Taste Catering was born servicing beautiful cuisine for weddings, Bar & Bat Mitzvahs, school functions, and production companies such as 72 and Sunny, Cabin Edit, and Rock Paper Scissors. Josh also services non-profits that are near and dear to his heart, like Alzheimer's Los Angeles (he likes to call his events a “fun”raiser). He recently collaborated with chef Danielle Hunter of The Real Coconut and is looking forward to their restaurant opening in Malibu.

Great Taste Catering had several events lined up for March and the following events that were suddenly canceled due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Josh's wife suggested that he consider a meal delivery service during these uncertain times, for families, friends, and the community. It immediately caught on. With over 100 orders being placed each week, prepared in a commercial grade “A” kitchen, Josh has been able to keep 8 of his employees working during this unprecedented moment. Additionally, after the deliveries on Saturday go out, Josh and the team deliver extra meals to people in the community who are in need. They are also working on a plan to give food to senior living homes and other institutions.

When He's Not Cooking

Josh was born and raised in Santa Monica and currently resides in Culver City. When he isn't in the kitchen, you can find Josh spending time with his three daughters and wife of 23 years, and their two dogs—also girls. He is outnumbered by the ladies in his house and he wouldn't have it any other way. They can’t wait to go back to Disneyland.

Josh's fave foods are Mexican, ramen, and chicken fried steak. He also would never pass up a “Godmother” sandwich from Bay Cities or a Hot Dog on a Stick by the Santa Monica Pier.

Josh's fave food travel destination: Italy. Josh's trips to Italy have helped define his cooking style -“ keep it simple, use fresh ingredients prepared simply and with love”.
